What happens when you put two Ferraris, a McLaren, and a Bentley on a scenic Austrian road? If you’re lucky, it’s a photo op. But for one group of drivers, it turned into one of the world’s most expensive car crashes. On November 10, a panic-braked Ferrari triggered a $7.5 million supercar pileup that’s now a viral sensation—and an insurance adjuster’s worst nightmare.

It all started on Road 348 near Pfunds, Austria, a twisty mountain route with breathtaking views—and unforgiving curves. The driver of a Ferrari 812 Superfast, worth a cool $562,000, suddenly braked hard, reportedly blinded by the sun while taking a hairpin turn. Unfortunately, they were tailgating another Ferrari, a LaFerrari hypercar valued at a jaw-dropping $5 million. The LaFerrari took the brunt of the crash, crumpled and crushed from both ends.

But the chaos didn’t stop there. A McLaren Elva, priced at $1.76 million, joined the collision moments later. Finally, a $240,000 Bentley Continental GTC rounded out the supercar pileup, plowing into the McLaren and completing the lineup of wrecked automotive royalty. All four vehicles ended up smashed against a rockface in what might be the priciest game of bumper cars ever recorded.

The supercar drivers were just visiting Austria

Despite the staggering damages, no drivers were injured. According to police, the drivers—aged between 40 and 52 and reportedly from Switzerland—are under investigation to determine if they kept proper safety distances. Judging by the aftermath, the answer might be obvious.

Photos of the supercar pileup have gone viral online, with social media users delivering savage commentary. One Redditor quipped, “Photographic evidence that money can’t buy good sense!” Another chimed in with, “This accident will cost more in repairs than I’ll make in my entire life.” Perhaps the most cutting remark: “You can’t park there.”

The crash highlights a sobering truth: even the wealthiest drivers are not immune to basic road mistakes. Tailgating, blinding sun, and tight mountain roads proved a lethal combination for these high-performance machines. While the drivers are likely shelling out millions in repair costs and insurance battles, the LaFerrari—the most expensive of the group—seems the hardest hit.

This $7.5 million mishap may be amusing to the internet, but it’s a costly lesson for those involved. Whether you’re behind the wheel of a Ferrari or a family sedan, remember: keep your distance, stay alert, and save the drama for the racetrack.
