2022 Kia EV6: Availability, Price, and Specs
This article was updated on 8/3/2022.
The 2022 Kia EV6 is a compact crossover and the automaker’s newest entry into the electric vehicle market. Competing with the likes of the Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E is no easy task. An excellent electric crossover needs a long driving range, spaciousness, a smooth drive, and most importantly, an affordable price. Find out what you need to know about the 2022 Kia EV6 here.
When is the 2022 Kia EV6 release date?

The 2022 Kia EV6 electric compact crossover SUV arrived in the US in early 2022. Additionally, the all-new EV SUV is now available at dealerships across the country.
How much is the 2022 Kia EV6 electric crossover?

The new Kia EV6 starts at $40,900 and is available in Light, Wind, and GT-Line trims. Kelley Blue Book reports that the 2022 Kia EV6 costs more than vehicles like the Hyundai Kona Electric subcompact crossover and Chevrolet Bolt EUV.
However, compared to other electric crossover giants like the Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E, the Kia EV6 is well-priced. The Mach-E starts at about the same $45,000 mark, while the Model Y is much higher, with its cheapest option costing at least $52,000. However, the Volkswagen ID.4 does beat its estimated starting price. VW’s electric offering comes in at just $42,000.
2022 Kia EV6: Driving range and specs
According to Kia Motors, the EPA estimated maximum all-electric range of the 2022 Kia EV6 is 310 miles. This driving range only pertains to an EV6 model using a 77.4 kWh battery and rear-wheel drive. The all-electric driving range for the rest of the lineup is lower than this particular setup.
Model | Electric driving range |
77.4 kWh battery, rear-wheel drive | 310 miles |
all-wheel drive | 274 miles |
58.0 kWh battery | 232 miles |
The Kia EV6 sits on the Hyundai Motor Group’s highly-touted Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). Much of the electric crossover SUV is shared with its corporate cousin of the same platform, the Hyundai Ioniq 5. In addition, it offers the same single motor with RWD and dual-motor with AWD configurations as the Ioniq 5.
Surprisingly, the 2022 Kia EV6 is bigger than many compact crossovers. It’s 184.4 inches long, 74.4 inches wide, and has a 114.2-inch wheelbase. It’s 0.8-inch shorter than the Ford Mustang Mach-E but is 0.3 wider than the same electric crossover. Secondly, the Kia EV6 is just 61.0 inches high, 3.0 inches lower than the Mustang Mach-E, and 3.4 inches lower than the Volkswagen ID.4. The size choices make the Kia EV6 look like a more sporty crossover than its competitors.
2022 Kia EV6: features and technology

The interior of the electric crossover is highlighted by the massive curved screen that cascades across the front dashboard. The center is a multifunction touchscreen for infotainment purposes, while behind the steering wheel, the same screen displays a digital instrument panel. However, a few physical controls are available, which is a welcomed feature.
The 2022 Kia EV6 has a light, wiper, and turn-signal stalks behind the steering wheel. Additionally, the roomy interior’s climate is controlled with rotary dials. Although the standard equipment isn’t official, we can figure out a lot from the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The EV6 sister crossover comes with remote start, battery status, charger location, charge scheduling, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Amazon/Google Assistant capability, and more.
For safety, the EV6 comes with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear occupant alert, and safe exit assist.
The 2022 EV6 electric crossover SUV is a brand new EV entering the market. It shares a lot with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 but differentiates itself in many ways. More information should come out closer to the intended release date. Until then, this includes the 2022 Kia EV6 price, specs, range, features, technology, and safety features.
