Police officers sprang into action after receiving reports of a stolen Jeep SUV with a child inside. However, authorities quickly learned that the Jeep Wagoneer was never stolen and the mother filed a false report.

Georgia woman busted for false stolen Jeep report

Georgia police officers responded to the scene at the 2900 block of Panola Road to recover a stolen Jeep SUV. Allegedly, the Jeep was stolen while a four-year-old was in the backseat.

The mother of the child, Kenta Jenkins, claimed that she was the victim of an armed carjacking. Reportedly, her 2020 Jeep Wagoneer was taken while it was left running, unoccupied, and unattended.

But quickly after trying to recover the vehicle and the child, police officers learned that they had been tricked. About two hours later, the child was confirmed to be safe at home with a family member.

According to WSBTV, officers then charged Kenya Jenkins for filing a false report and were taken to the DeKalb County Jail.

Authorities believe that the tag may have been removed from the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. The public is asked to be on the lookout. The case is still under investigation.

However, why do drivers often claim that their children have been abducted in stolen cars? I see new examples of this behavior every few months.

Do people claim their children have been taken for attention? Do they want the police to make it their top priority? Are they trying to cover up their own crimes or something embarrassing? Either way, it’s illegal. Filing a false report is Obstruction of Justice.
