Mercedes-Benz vehicles are known for having the best interiors and plenty of nice engine options. The automaker is one of the only manufacturers that hasn’t had a significant decrease in sales due to COVID-19. While other rivals may be cheaper, a Mercedes-Benz often has more features, which makes it a better value.

Still, a car’s high base price can scare away potential buyers. More expensive models, like the Mercedes-Benz GT, can top out at nearly $200,000. Luckily, Mercedes-Benz has a few excellent models with more affordable price tags. Here are the cheapest new Mercedes-Benz cars you can buy today.

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class has the lowest price

If you’re looking for the best bargain, choose the A-Class sedan. The base trim of this car only costs $33,795. The A-Class comes with a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine capable of 188 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

However, MotorTrend points out that this isn’t the best engine for performance-minded drivers. Although its initial acceleration is quick, it’s not as athletic overall. Critics have also reported that there’s a lot of noise inside the cabin while driving. If you want a more powerful engine and all-wheel drive, you may want to upgrade to the AMG A35 trim.

Still, you get the same luxe interior you would find in more expensive Mercedes-Benz cars. The seats are made of synthetic leather and have been praised for their exceptional comfort by critics. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class also features a highly user-friendly infotainment system, equipped with smartphone integration and an intuitive voice recognition feature.

It also comes with some advanced safety features like pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and even rain-sensing windshield wipers. The A-Class only has one major flaw – trunk space. It only has 8.6 cubic feet of space, but the back row also has 40/20/40 split-folding seats.

The Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class

For shoppers who want a new SUV, the Mercedes-Benz GLA is a good option. It may be the automaker’s smallest SUV, but it’s a good bargain at $35,245. It comes with a peppy four-cylinder that makes 208 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The GLA’s motor is also very efficient, netting up to 24 mpg in the city and 34 on highway roads.

Like the A-Class sedan, the GLA-Class’s interior is also made with high-quality materials. However, Consumer Reports wasn’t impressed with this SUV’s amount of interior space. Reviewers were also disappointed by the car’s small cargo area.

Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class

Those who want more cargo space should consider taking a chance on the GLB-Class SUV. It’s a brand-new model, so there’s no available data regarding long-term reliability. It also doesn’t have the sporty handling of other Mercedes-Benz cars, but its 221-hp engine makes decent power.

Additionally, the GLB-Class is perfect for families thanks to its massive trunk. A standard two-row SUV comes with up to 62 cubic feet of space. The backseat is also very roomy for kids and even taller passengers.

Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class

The CLA-Class is the only other new Mercedes-Benz you can buy for under $40,000. The car got a complete redesign for 2020 with an upgraded infotainment system and bigger interior dimensions. Still, because of the sloping roof, head-space in the back may be limited for taller passengers.

Most critics agree that the refreshed powertrain is an excellent improvement over the previous model year. It’s only a small upgrade in power, jumping from 208 hp to 221 hp. Still, driving the car is a completely different experience. The 2019 CLA-Class was harsh and noisy, but the ride quality of the new model is much more gentle.
