Dog finds help after owner is struck by SUV

A man was taking his dog for a walk in Renton, Washington when things suddenly turned deadly. He was struck by an SUV during a hit-and-run incident about 10 miles southeast of Seattle.

The man was walking around 9 PM on the 5100 block of Talbot Road South when a crossover SUV hit him and his dog. Police officers believe it was a Hyundai or Kia with new-style bright headlights.

As the dark grey or silver vehicle fled the scene heading northbound on State Route 167,  the dog ran home to get help. He alerted others that something was wrong. The dog led people to the injured man, who was found with serious injuries.

He was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. The dog’s fast actions are attributed to saving his owner’s life.

But police officers and the man’s family members hope to find the hit-and-run driver to hold them accountable for their actions.

Unfortunately, none of my sources include the dog’s name or breed. How can I celebrate it as a hero from my office in the Carolinas? Was it a Blue Heeler, Beagle, Chihuahua, Corgi, or Pit bull?
