Utah man arrested for running a Tesla off the road at 100 mph
Highways are a dangerous place. High speeds, distracted drivers, and unforeseen hazards can make a simple trip down the freeway into a minefield of threats. Worse yet, road rage is a regular presence on American highways, and there’s never a good reason. Especially when it comes to a hateful driver attempting to run a Tesla driver off the road just because they drive one of Elon Musk’s EVs.
A Utah man with a revoked license ended up in handcuffs after trying to kill a Tesla driver at over 100 mph
It’s not a great time to drive a Tesla. Not a day goes by that you don’t see headlines detailing instances of vandalism targeting the brand’s vehicles and locations. Or worse. Oscar Fayani, 27, chose the latter when he deliberately targeted a Tesla driver on Interstate 80 in Utah.
Authorities in the area received multiple 911 calls detailing an emergency in broad daylight, prompting a police response. However, before police showed up, Fayani was causing havoc on the busy highway. Witnesses say Fayani hit speeds of around 120 mph to harass a Tesla driver. He reportedly weaved through traffic, tailgated motorists, and blocked other vehicles before turning his attention to the luxury EV.
The Tesla driver attempted to escape the road rager by exiting the highway. However, Fayani followed the electric vehicle and continued to harass him. Fortunately, police caught up with Fayani and forced him to stop soon after. To make matters worse, police reportedly found drugs during an inspection of the sedan. Worse yet, Fayani was driving on a revoked license. One thing is certain: It’s going to be a while before he gets back on the road.
This is far from the first time
Fortunately, this situation didn’t result in a fatality or serious injury. But it very well could have. Worse yet, this is far from the first occasion of an angry motorist targeting a driver due to their choice of EV.
A couple of months ago, a pickup truck driver in the Lone Star State tried to run a couple off the road. Their only crime? They were driving a Cybertruck. Evidently, that was enough impetus for the Texan to brake check and ultimately try to run the boxy, oft-reviled EV off the road. You can have your opinions about cars, trucks, motorcycles, and what have you. That doesn’t excuse violence on the motorway.
