The manager of a repair center in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, was reviewing security camera footage and discovered something shocking. A UPS driver pulled up to the business at 5:14 PM, delivered one package, then tossed six more unopened boxes into the dumpster.

At first you might think the truck driver was just too tired to finish his route, so he started tossing boxes instead of delivering them. But then the manager continued to study the footage. At about 6:14 PM, a BMW convertible pulled up to the same dumpster. A man–still wearing his UPS uniform–got out of the car to retrieve the packages from the dumpster. The manager immediately called the local police.

Pennsylvania police get to the bottom of the UPS driver stealing packages

The Silver Spring Township Police studied the surveillance footage. Officers identified the name of a nearby business on the package labels. The business confirmed it was missing six packages that tracking information claimed should have arrived. It added that each package was worth $225. Time to call UPS.

The United Parcel Service stated: “We have no tolerance for theft and have terminated this driver’s employment. We continue to cooperate with authorities on their investigation.”

The driver in question is Richard Moore, 60, of Harrisburg PA. Moore admitted he tossed the packages in the dumpster and double back to get them later. Police have charged him with theft of mail.
