Florida man has a $12k bond after attacking an Uber Eats driver over an order
Modern technology has quite a bit to offer consumers. Naturally, this includes things like placing Uber Eats orders with the app instead of going out to pick up food and other items. Recently, one Florida man did this but ended up getting into an altercation with the Uber Eats driver. He is now sitting in a jail cell with a pretty hefty bond for his abusive crime.
Using the Uber Eats app to place an order isn’t uncommon, but assaulting the driver is
According to Click Orlando, the victim in question was in Deltona, Florida, on February 22nd, completing Uber Eats orders as a driver. One of her orders contained several bottles of alcohol, which isn’t unheard of for an Uber Eats driver. However, the customer is required to show their ID to the driver to verify that they are of age. This particular order was for Myles Webb, 31, and he refused to hand over his ID to complete the order.
She told Mark she would be forced to return the Uber Eats order if she couldn’t verify his age. She then turned to walk away. However, he grabbed her, wrenched her arm, and tried to take the order. Sadly, he also dragged her a short distance toward his home during the altercation. The driver’s boyfriend, who often accompanies her during deliveries, exited the car and aided her. The report says that Mark then grabbed one of the bottles and held it over the boyfriend’s head in an “aggressive and threatening manner.”
He then told the Uber Eats driver and her boyfriend to leave his property. He even followed them as they ran back to the car. Now, he’s facing charges following the attempted Uber Eats order delivery. They are for battery and aggravated assault. The latest report says he’s being held at the Volusia County jail on a $12,000 bond.
