Ex-NFL player and truck driver faces felony charges for allegedly stealing $500K from a trucking company
Truck driving is one of those professions that has wide-reaching impacts. Not only does it help keep the economy afloat, but it does so through multiple industries. However, there is sometimes unfortunate trucking news, like this recent story of a driver facing felony charges for draining a large sum of money from the trucking company’s business accounts. The driver got away with the crime for over a year.
Truck driving news involving drivers doesn’t typically concern them dealing with large sums of cash
According to CDLLife, Shaquille Dixon is being accused of draining funds from the accounts of the Good Run Logistics company. Notably, he is the company’s former truck driving professional and business partner. The man also happens to be a former NFL linebacker for the Carolina Panthers. He is said to have diverted around $500,000 from the Charlotte-based entity between February 2023 and June 2024.
The report says that Shaquille was initially hired because of his vast truck driving experience. However, after gaining their trust, he was given access to the company’s bank accounts and financial records. From there, he allegedly began transferring money from the business accounts to his banks. He would label the transfers as “owner draws” or “transfers to review” to hide his illegal activities.
The story doesn’t end there. There were also instances of the man pretending to be the owner of the truck-driving company. Additionally, he convinced the actual owner to transfer more money into the account, only for him to later divert it. Now, he is facing multiple felony charges, including wire fraud. The police booked him into the Gaston County Detention Center and bonded out on March 10th.
