Multiple semi-trucks crashed and flooded the interstate with 65 gallons of diesel in CO
Car wrecks are fairly common and can happen for various reasons. However, what’s less likely to happen is two truck driving professionals colliding and shutting down the interstate. Sadly, this happened recently in Colorado, and it caused a traffic delay for quite a while. This is the latest crash that made trucking news.
Truck driving professionals aren’t immune to car wrecks but trucking news shows they aren’t super common
According to KDVR, two truck-driving professionals in commercial vehicles crashed on the morning of March 28th. This happened at around 6 a.m. Sadly, this was an extensive crash, as they had to shut down a portion of I-70. Specifically, this impacted the westbound lanes starting at the Copper Mountain exit and leading to Eagle. Regarding the crash itself, it left a reported 65 gallons of fuel on the road. This happened because the fuel tank on one of the trucks ruptured.
Of course, spilling fuel of any kind on the road is dangerous. Because of this, local authorities had to organize a hazardous material cleanup following the crash involving the truck driving professionals. As of the latest reports, no injuries were related to the crash, but this could change as more information comes to light. Luckily for drivers, there was a detour option, meaning they weren’t left waiting for the I-70 lanes to reopen. Still, this detour took drivers an extra hour of travel.
It’s unclear what caused the two semi-truck drivers to crash. However, the local authorities are currently investigating. The impacted lanes of I-70 have since reopened, and traffic is functioning as normal.
