It’s not uncommon for a driver to be pulled over by the police for a traffic stop. These encounters are usually short, but some people try their best to evade the police. This happened recently in Michigan, which led to a high-speed police chase. Now, the 19-year-old suspect is behind bars on an $11k bond and facing 10 years in prison.

The man evaded the traffic stop, got arrested, and is now banned from that area

According to Patch, police officers tried to pull over a Ford Fusion in Berkley, Michigan, on March 12th near 12 Mile Road for a traffic stop. However, the person behind the wheel refused to pull over and sped toward 11 Mile Road, leading the officers on a high-speed chase. This went on for a time, and the officers observed the man behind the wheel tossing a firearm from the vehicle.

The officers continued to pursue the car to make the traffic stop. However, the driver refused to stop and eventually found himself in Royal Oak, Michigan. After a while, the police officers were able to box in the Ford Fusion. This was when they were able to arrest the 19-year-old man. He is in the Oakland County Jail and has an $11k bail.

Following the traffic stop and high-speed chase, the man has charges for third-degree fleeing police, carrying a concealed weapon, and driving with a suspended license. Now, he’s facing five years for the fleeing charge and up to the same amount of time for the weapon violation. He has another hearing scheduled for March 21st. Authorities banned the 19-year-old from Berkley and Royal Oak except for court purposes.
