The Toyota Tacoma just knocked the Ford Maverick back down
It’s official, we don’t have to worry about the Toyota Tacoma and declining sales anymore. The 2024 model is slowly reclaiming its throne by knocking rivals off of its list. The Ford Maverick was beating it, but that’s no longer the case.
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is outselling the Ford Maverick
While it’s true that the 2024 Toyota Tacoma got off to a rocky start, fans don’t have to worry about it anymore.
At one point the Ford Maverick had more sales than the Tacoma. Back in June, the Tacoma had 69,437 sales and the Maverick had 90,375 for the year.
But a few months have passed since then. According to Car and Driver, the Tacoma has 126,805 sales so far in 2024. The time period for these sales is from January to September. So, there are a few more months for the battle to continue.
The Ford Maverick currently isn’t on the list of the top-selling vehicles so far this year. The 2024 Honda HR-V is in the 25th spot with 114,805 sales.
Ford releases its sales figures on a monthly basis, so based on this information, it’s safe to assume that the Maverick has less than 114,805 sales.

Also, the Tacoma is the only mid-size truck on the list so we can congratulate it for holding on to the title of the most popular mid-size truck. The Ford F-150 is the best-selling vehicle of the year so far with 528,028 sales. It probably won’t be caught.
While the Toyota Tacoma is still struggling against declining sales, it’s turning things around. It’s still down by 30% compared to last year but is rapidly filling the deficit.
Sales most likely got off to a rocky start because production facilities had to be renovated to build the new model. Plus, production moved from Texas to Mexico. But the Tacoma is firing on all cylinders again and has time to finish the year strong.
