Are you still trying to find dealerships with plenty of inventory? While some automakers have too many trucks and SUVs to handle, Toyota is still struggling. Toyota SUVs are still facing frustrating shortages. 

Toyota SUVs are plagued by inventory shortages 

According to Real Car Tips, Toyota SUVs are still pretty hard to find. It released a list of new cars with the most available industry. The list includes 60 popular models. 

However, the only Toyota SUV on the list is the Toyota RAV4. It’s 35th on the list with about 10,577 models in stock across the country. The highest concentration of 2024 Toyota RAV4 models is currently in New York. 

The only other Toyota models on the list are trucks. The Toyota Tacoma is in 16th place with 16,428 models available. Then the Toyota Tundra is in 24th place with 12,124 new trucks available. 

But that’s it. The rest of the lineup is pretty difficult to find at the moment. Popular models like the Toyota 4Runner, Highlander, Grand Highlander, Sequoia, Venza, bZ4X, Corolla Cross, and Land Cruiser are pretty sparse. 

Some critics blame the production shortage due to high demand. The RAV4 is the most popular SUV in America and it loves to fly off the lot.

Toyota has been working to return production levels to normal since COVID-19 led to a massive semiconductor chip shortage. 

Also, Toyota is a little behind in the race to electrification. Toyota is lagging behind while moving to hybrid-only varieties. Hybrid vehicles are also experiencing a surge in demand. 

Earlier in 2024, there was a 24-hour production stop in Japan. All 14 vehicle factories were paused because a system malfunction prevented the system from processing orders for automotive components. 

The plants are back up and running, but it’s unclear how much production output was lost. Cybersecurity improvements had to be made. 

Plus, Toyota moved the Tacoma to Mexico and is busy launching the 2025 Toyota 4Runner and redesigned Land Cruiser. Toyota has a lot on its plate but is working to boost production.
