[Watch] A TikToker claims she towed her ex’s car, viewers call it a lie or illegal
All of us have been in a relationship that leaves a bad taste in our mouths. Maybe you’ve considered enacting petty revenge on an ex for wasting your time and breaking your heart. Well, a TikToker (@theecatch) did what we’ve all thought about: having their ex’s car towed at their expense.
In the video, her ex’s early 2000s Ford Mustang convertible was parked in front of her house. With the audio of hysterical laughter in the background, the black ‘Stang was being winched onto the flatbed of a tow truck.
“POV: Having my ex’s car towed to some random place in town because I don’t know why he thought he was going to just leave it here after we broke up,” she wrote in the video’s caption. “The audacity of him thinking it would be okay to leave it here is beyond me.”
The video has almost 4.5 million views, 43,000 likes, and 250 comments.
Commenters weren’t sure the tow was legal
Some supportive viewers wrote that the karma was too good. Most, though, felt it was too good to be true. Especially since the Mustang was parked legally.
“But wait, it’s parked legally on a public street,” someone wrote. “I’m so confused.”
A few viewers responded to say that property owners can call and have an “abandoned” car towed from in front of their homes if they’ve been parked there for 72 consecutive hours.
A viewer who claimed to work for a towing company called her bluff.
“I dispatch for a towing company, there’s no way we would have it towed unless you were part owner,” they wrote. “It’s a lawsuit waiting to happen, just saying. But I feel the same way.”
