One of the sad truths about driving is that many people decide to do it while under the influence. Not only can this lead to a DUI charge, but it causes several fatal car wrecks each year. Recently, an 18-year-old driver got behind the wheel after allegedly drinking and led police on a dangerous high-speed chase to avoid a traffic stop. Luckily, no one sustained injuries during the pursuit.

Not only does he have a DUI charge, but he has charges for evading a traffic stop

According to Denton RC, a police officer was on patrol duty at about 3:22 am on January 18th when they spotted an SUV driving somewhat erratically. The officer followed the vehicle and soon noticed that it had both a head and a tail light out. Additionally, the person behind the wheel ran a red light, which prompted the officer to try to conduct a traffic stop. Sadly, the driver refused to pull over.

Not only did the driver not pull over for the traffic stop, but he also accelerated to go faster than he’d previously been driving. At points, he increased his speeds to over 100 miles per hour, which is in no way safe, especially at that late hour. The chase contained and saw the man drive through a parking lot and then get back onto the interstate.

After a while, the man finally pulled over and submitted to the traffic stop. The officer on the scene arrested the man for suspicion of driving under the influence and also obtained a warrant for a blood sample. In addition to his DUI charge, the man was also arrested for evading arrest or detention with a vehicle.
