Tesla Cybertruck owner on the hook for $265 after a kitten stows away and gets stuck inside
The Tesla Cybertruck can play whoopee cushion jokes on passengers. But while the huge, angular Tesla can make fart jokes, it likely won’t play a trick on its owner with a kitten noise-making mode. One Cybertruck owner was scratching his head over meows coming from his EV. Unfortunately, the culprit was a tiny feline stowaway and it cost him a diagnostic fee to save it.
A Tesla Cybertruck owner recently paid $265 for a diagnostic fee to extract a little kitten from his hulking EV
No, the Tesla Cybertruck doesn’t have a random cat noise setting. Perhaps that is what California-based Cybertruck owner Brian Caines thought when he heard meowing coming from his truck. After investigating, Caines decided the meowing was coming from his Cybertruck, not his Model Y.
Caines shared his experiences on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum. “I went to my garage and heard meowing, which was strange because I don’t have a cat.” The Californian then decided to assess the cat-and-truck situation by pulling the truck out. “I pulled it out of my garage and put it in extract mode but couldn’t see it anywhere but it was meowing like crazy.” Extract mode raises the ride height and ground clearance, leaving plenty of space for a cat to jump out.
Alas, the young cat remained in the truck, tucked up alongside the battery. Caines then decided to take the Cybertruck to a service center. “I went in and the first service advisor’s gut reaction was that they couldn’t do anything and I should call animal control,” Caines recounted. After expressing concern that animal control personnel would dismantle his truck, Tesla techs agreed to “give it a try” for a $265 diagnostic fee. Within 30 minutes, the kitten was free.
This Cybertruck owner isn’t the only one to run into feline-related issues
Caines’ experiences with the stowaway cat aren’t entirely unique. “Cats find a way,” one online Cybertruck owner suggested on the forum. They’re not entirely wrong, either. A team of mechanics in Georgia recently rescued a kitten from a Mercedes-Benz after a prospective buyer said they heard meowing in the sedan’s engine bay.
As a result, Caines reminded fellow Cybertruck owners to stay vigilant for little feline stowaways. “If you have any cats near you that are pregnant, be careful.” Check out a video of a cat stuck in a Cybertruck below!
