First of all, those who claim that the Jeep Compass isn’t a real Jeep haven’t driven one. Jeep has made all sorts of wild non-Wrangler vehicles including a convertible sedan. Anyways, a major change is coming to the Compass and I’m not on board yet.

The Jeep Compass is going big

The Jeep Compass is the smallest SUV in the line-up, picking up where the Jeep Renegade was unjustly killed. It’s the most affordable and convenient model available, especially for tight city life.

Rumors suggest that the next-generation model is going to be larger, which is hard for my brain to comprehend. The Compass is a smaller alternative to the dead Jeep Cherokee

However, the Jeep Cherokee is supposed to return to sit under the Grand Cherokee. If the Compass is a similar size to the Cherokee then won’t the SUVs just be competing with themselves?

However, according to Top Speed, the larger Compass might be for Europe. It’s set to get hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric variants. This may require the Compass to have a larger platform.

We already know that the Compass EV isn’t coming to America due to low demand for electric vehicles. Plus, the American Compass is built in Canada. So, the smaller gas-powered model might stick around.

Either way, the Compass is due for an upgrade and advanced tech. It experienced a 14% sales increase in 2024, so Stellantis wants to keep its success rolling.

Going bigger means more space, but that’s not always what drivers want. Sometimes they want to easily park and maneuver around traffic.
