It’s a common complaint that beloved nameplates lose something when they go electric. The internet is practically brimming with gripes about the Mustang, Charger, Boxster, and Cayman dabbling in the EV space. However, there’s seldom comparable mention of what these models gain. In the case of the Porsche Macan Turbo EV, it’s raw, unadulterated speed.

Despite being a ‘Turbo’ without a turbo, the new Porsche Macan Turbo EV is a blistering improvement

Granted, “Turbo” is a bit of a misnomer. Like the Taycan Turbo, Turbo S, and Turbo GT, the Macan EV doesn’t actually have a turbocharger. Instead, the new Porsche Macan Turbo EV is an all-electric affair, ditching a familiar six-cylinder for a dual-motor, 95 kWh application. I know, I know. But the Macan Turbo EV’s performance figures more than make up for the missing mill.

Despite its considerable 5,440-lb curb weight, the not-so-turbo Turbo can get up and sprint. The range-topping 2025 Porsche Macan Turbo EV hit 60 mph from a standstill in just 2.9 seconds, nearly a full second faster than the gas-powered Macan S. That’s faster than a 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera. It keeps the thrust going past the first 60 mph, too. The Macan Turbo EV finishes the quarter-mile in 11.1 seconds, almost a second and a half faster than the twin-turbocharged Macan S.

To pull off such a feat, the Macan Turbo EV packs some serious grunt. Its dual-motor platform produces 630 horsepower and 833 lb-ft of torque. But the new Turbo model is far from a one-trick sprinter with swollen power figures. With staggered tires, six-piston brakes, and a dedicated Sport mode, the Turbo EV is a compliant corner hound. You might not get the typical Zuffenhausen soundtrack of a six-cylinder Porsche engine, but you get a whole lot of performance SUV.
