Police investigate 20-year-old US soldier killed in car crash after a ‘fight with weapons’
Police in Texas are investigating a fatal car crash in Killeen, Texas. While that doesn’t sound like something out of the norm, this crash killed a young US Army soldier in his late-model Chevrolet Camaro. Worse yet, the pursuit and curious crash happened after a “fight with weapons” in the area.
Killeen Police are investigating a 20-year-old US Army soldier killed in a crash after a pursuit near a Texas military base
Police officers in Killeen, Texas are investigating the death of a soldier in a crash near South Twin Creek Drive. The soldier, a 20-year-old member of the United States Army, was stationed at Fort Cavazos, formerly Fort Hood. According to law enforcement, the young soldier was out in his red 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, a common choice for young enlisted service members.
Police responded to a call at 5:00 a.m. citing a “fight with weapons” at the Blu Print Lounge and Spadez Club. The clubs are both popular nighttime haunts in the area and were closed during the early morning hours. Still, police received reports of a fight in the parking lot. Once law enforcement arrived, they pursued one of the suspects. It was the young soldier in the sixth-generation Camaro.
Now, many modern Camaro models can be a handful. For instance, the naturally aspirated 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS produces 455 horsepower from its 6.2L V8. Moreover, the supercharged V8 in the Camaro ZL1 pushes output up to 650 horsepower and the same number in torque.
Combined with rear-wheel drive and an uninitiated driver, a V8-powered Camaro can be dangerous. Unfortunately for the soldier, he was killed in the car when it ran off the road and crashed.
Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene just 30 minutes after the “fight with weapons” call. KWTX is prompting anyone with information regarding the crash to contact the Killeen Police Department at 254-501-8830.
