This is not a good look for our hard-working police officers working to keep us safe. An Indiana police captain was busted for drunkenly crashing his squad car and trying to cover it up. Two other people were arrested in connection to the cover-up.

A police captain known as 38-year-old Edwin Hodson has been charged with drunk driving and fleeing the scene. The hit-and-run crash involved his Ford Explorer police inceptor

He also dragged his wife and father-in-law into the situation, and they have been charged with allegedly trying to help cover things up. 

Police officers responded to the scene after receiving reports of a 2020 Ford Explorer that crashed into a rock. The police car was marked “Cicero Police Department: and is owned by the town of Cicero. An investigation determined that it ran off the road. 

Lora Hodson claimed that she was driving the SUV at the time of the incident because her husband Edwin was drinking. She also said that he exited the SUV and walked off after the crash.

According to Fox 58, the SUV was equipped with a dashcam that recorded Edwind calling his wife about the accident. She is heard saying he shouldn’t be driving a police vehicle while intoxicated. Then she arrived on the scene and they discussed switching seats. 

Lora called her father for help. He was caught on video telling Edwin to get out of the driver’s seat. He also knew officers were looking for the crash and failed to report it. 

Edwin was charged with operating a vehicle intoxicated, endangering a person, and fleeing the scene of an accident. 

Lora was charged with false informing and aiding, inducing, or causing a leaving the scene of an accident. Her father received the same charges.
