Suspended Pennsylvania driver recently led police on a 75 MPH chase and landed multiple felonies
Evading a traffic stop is among the worst things a driver can do. Unfortunately, some feel they have valid reasons to lead police officers on chases when they see red and blue lights behind them. Recently, one Pennsylvania driver tried to run from police because she had a suspended driver’s license. Of course, this made things much worse.
Driving with a suspended driver’s license is bad, but evading a traffic stop is even worse
According to North Penn Now, a Pennsylvania police trooper was on patrol duty and noticed a Hyundai Sonata with a broken headlight. As this was a violation, the officer tried to make a traffic stop, but the car sped away. Notably, this happened after 2:00 a.m. earlier this month in Towamencin Township. In fact, the driver, Zhalaysia Zhane Henson, 25, is said to have increased her speed to about 75 miles per hour to evade police.
While running from the traffic stop, the driver committed several road violations. They include crossing over white and yellow lines, not using her turn signal, and failing to yield. The driver finally ended the high-speed police chase in Franconia Township. The police then determined that she was running because she knew her driver’s license was suspended. However, they also learned that the license plate on the Hyundai actually belonged to a Chevrolet.
Of course, the 25-year-old driver was arrested for evading the traffic stop. She’s being charged with felony fleeing or eluding, misdemeanor driving with a suspended license, and various other offenses. She was released on a $5,000 unsecured bail and has a hearing this month.
