Sometimes being an Uber driver and dealing drugs have similarities. They can both be gigs, even if only one of the jobs is legal. New York police officers just put one driver behind bars for dealing cocaine to passengers, so he probably just lost all of his jobs.

New York police arrest Uber driver for dealing cocaine

52-year-old Howard Nugent currently faces multiple charges after being arrested for selling drugs to passengers. The arrest was made after Dutchess County Drug Task Force agents received anonymous tips about his activities.

He was selling drugs out of his service car while working as an Uber driver. Police officers went undercover and purchased cocaine from Nugent at multiple locations around Poughkeepsie. Then they obtained a search warrant.

Then task force agents, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit (SWAT), the Poughkeepsie Police Department, and the New York Police Community Stabilization Unit set up surveillance along 106 Van Wagner Road.

They spotted Nugent traveling south in his car and attempted to stop him. He refused to stop and sped away. He hit an unmarked police car and kept going until he hit a utility pole.

Then he was taken into custody. According to Mid Hudson News, large quantities of cocaine packaged for sale were found in his apartment and car

Nugent was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and one felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Additional charges are pending.
