New York police officers search for ‘MAGA’ truck involved in hit-and-run

The Westmoreland Police Department in New York hopes that drivers who witnessed a hit-and-run can help them find a driver.

A driver of a white Toyota Tundra truck was driving southbound on Route 223. Then it tried to pass another vehicle. The vehicle was preparing to turn right into a post office parking lot.

Then the truck hit the car while passing it on the shoulder. The passenger-side quarter panel and headlight were damaged. The driver wasn’t injured, just surprised.

The truck was caught on camera pulling into the Westmo Car Wash parking lot. A middle-aged white male exited to inspect the damage. The Toyota Tundra didn’t have a license plate on the front. Plus, the one on the rear was covered by dirt.

However, the white truck has a red tailgate with ‘MAGA’ written on it in large white letters. This should make it easier to identify. After looking at his truck, the driver drove away without contacting the victim.

According to CNY Central, Anyone with related information is encouraged to contact the New York State Police at Troop D Headquarters at 315-366-6000.

The man could be charged with moving from lane unsafely, driving on the shoulder of a controlled access highway, operating a motor vehicle without an inspection certificate, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
