The new Toyota bZ4X has been hitting the gym- here’s what you need to know
The new Toyota bZ4X is on the way, and its numbers look like a notable improvement over the previous model. However, it’s not all good news. We might not see the same willingness to travel in the new Toyota EV on this side of the pond.
337 horsepower and a claimed 356 miles could bring the new Toyota bZ4X to new heights– if the US model delivers the goods
It’s a bit of a mouthful, but the Toyota bZ4X survives to see a new iteration. Better yet, the new EV promises a significant bump in power output and single-charge range. For starters, Toyota says the new bZ4X will produce up to 337 horsepower in the AWD version and cover up to 356 miles on a single charge. Battery options change as well, with the largest power pack at 73.1 kWh, compared to the previous model’s 72.8 kWh pack.
However, and it’s a big however, the 356-mile range estimate is for the European-spec model. As such, the US deliveries may be a little less long-legged than their European siblings. Still, anything close to that magic 356-mile figure would be an impressive jump from the previous generation’s 252-mile limit.
It would also put the bZ4X in close competition with some of the long range champions of the electric SUV market. For instance, the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV, Hyundai IONIQ 5, and Kia EV6 promise around 334, 318, and 310 miles of range, respectively. Should the US model deliver close to as much single-charge range as its European counterpart, it’ll challenge some of the best in the segment.
Of course, the 2024 US model was shy of the European-spec SUV by around 65 miles. If that gulf is any indication of the difference between the 2024 and 2025 US models, the next-generation bZ4X might have around 280 or 290 miles of electric range.
