New data suggests that hundreds of truckers are serial killers
Welcome back to my true crime corner. Today we are taking a closer look at truckers. Data suggests that there are actually hundreds of serial killers working as semi-truck drivers across the county. But I mean no disrespect to the hardworking, law-abiding drivers.
Data reveals that hundreds of truckers could be serial killers
Frank Figliuzzi is a former FBI assistant director who has been part of various disturbing investigations. He saw gruesome crimes during his 25-year career as an FBI agent and gory crime scenes.
He wrote the book ‘Long Haul; Hunting the Highway Serial Killers,’ which explores serial killers at large, roaming the country as semi-truck drivers.
Of course, not all truck drivers are criminals. Only a small number are suspected murders. According to 8 News Now, about 450 long-haul truckers could be serial killers.
Figliuzzi wrote the book to explore the lifestyle of truck drivers to warn against the dangers lurking on our highways. It’s also to educate law enforcement officials who are unaware of the FBI’s database dedicated to long-haul trucker killings.
Most of the victims are younger women who are either sex workers or hitchhikers. Sex workers at truck stops are often referred to as lot lizards.
In Figliuzzi’s book, he has detailed accounts of suspected killers at large. For example, Chester Todd is accused of a series of murders and rapes being going on the run in 1995. He surfaced in Las Vegas living under a fake name in 2013.
Also, Robert Ben Rhodes allegedly built a torture chamber in his rig and murdered couples that he picked up while hitchhiking. He could be connected to dozens of other torture-murder cases.
