The most loved trucks are not the Ford F-150 or Chevy Silverado
Since the dawn of automotive time, people have loved their trucks, cars, and SUVs. They care for them with pride and sometimes treat them better than their own children. However, the official list of the most loved trucks doesn’t include the Ford F-150 or Chevy Silverado 1500.
What are the most loved trucks?
The most loved trucks include the Toyota Tacoma, Toyota Tundra, Honda Ridgeline, and Nissan Frontier. iSeeCars performed a study to determine which vehicles that drivers lost the most.
This list is surprising as the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado have been outselling these beloved trucks for decades.
According to the study, these trucks show more devotion as owners keep them for 15 years or more. An average car owner tends to only keep their ride for eight years.
To find the top 13 most loved vehicles, iSeeCars analyzed over 929,000 cars from model years 1981 – 2009 that were sold between January – September 2024. This provided information about which cars are the most likely to be kept by their original owners.
The Tacoma is the fourth most loved car with 6.4% of models being kept by their original owners. It’s held on to 1.7 times longer than the average vehicle. The Toyota Tundra landed in eleventh place with a 5.5% to be kept over 15 years.

Next up, the Honda Ridgeline is in twelfth place with a 5.5% chance of being held on to. The Nissan Frontier isn’t far behind at 5.2%.
Overall, the most loved car is the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. About 7.0% of models have been kept by their original owners for over 15 years. That’s 2.0 times higher than the average vehicle.
The only Ford vehicle to make the list is the Ford Escape Hybrid which came in seventh place. Surprisingly, no Chevrolet vehicles landed on the list.
A majority of the most loved trucks, like the Tacoma, Tundra, and Ridgeline have an excellent reputation for reliability. Perhaps the Nissan Frontier is more durable than people think.
