Police officers witness some rather outlandish things while on duty. Often, this happens when they pull people over for a traffic stop, but there are also several other crazy situations. Recently, police were called for a car theft, and the suspect led them on a high-speed chase. However, this isn’t where the story begins.

This man committed car theft and tried to evade a traffic stop

Sadly, not adhering to a traffic stop isn’t the worst part of this story. According to WAPT, a Jackson, Mississippi, woman called the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department at about 3:15 a.m. on November 11th. During her call, she requested a police officer to serve on standby as she gathered some of her items following a domestic dispute.

However, things worsened when she called back and said that Jason Salter, the suspect, had tried to attack her with a chainsaw. Additionally, he committed car theft by taking her Toyota Camry and speeding away. Later, a deputy spotted the stolen Toyota and tried to conduct a traffic stop. Jason refused to stop, and the police officer pursued the vehicle.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department later put down spike stripes and surrounded the sedan to conduct the traffic stop. The car crashed at some point and is said to have turned over. According to the report, “After the crash, the suspect resisted and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after deployment of a Taser.”

They treated Jason on the scene and then took him to jail. His charges include aggravated domestic violence, carjacking, and fleeing and eluding.
