Louisiana uses flusher truck to wash snow instead of urine
New Orleans, Louisiana received snow for the first time in 15 years. While the area isn’t used to clearing snow, it’s familiar with cleaning up messes. The city used a flusher truck to remove snow instead of the usual trash, urine, puke, beads, and more.
Louisiana clears snow with flusher truck that usually cleans urine
New Orleans and other areas in Louisiana had to get a bit creative after receiving record amounts of ice and snow.
According to Fox 56 News, over 200 miles of interstate are expected to remain closed through Friday. There are just too many patches of black ice and snow. Plus, Louisiana burned through its normal salt supply while trying to treat all of the roads.
So, the city decided to repurpose a cleanup truck as a makeshift snowplow temporarily. With the help of Big Easy, the private waste management firm, a 4,000-gallon flusher truck was deployed.
It was spraying water on the ground to soften the ice for removal around the historic French Quarter. But it’s typically only used to clean the streets after Mardi Gras and other large festivals.
Drivers shared that the truck normally sprays a lemon-scented fragrance to get rid of odors from liquor, urine, puke, and more from the previous night of partying. The truck cleans plastic cups, trash, plastic beads, etc.

While Arkansas sent snowplows, dump trucks, salt spreaders, and other equipment to Louisiana, the state still struggles to manage the historic blizzard.
Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development spokesperson Danial Gitlin shared that they’re being honest with themselves. They know crawfish and football, but now snow and ice.
However, that’s okay. It’s going away and they’re better off letting Mother Nature do what she needs to right now. They’re finding new solutions and better techniques to deal with snowy conditions.
