Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers have two suspects in custody after they committed armed robbery at a faux music video set and fled in a short pursuit. However, rather than opting for a ubiquitous, blends-right-in Nissan or Toyota, the two attempted their daring getaway in an eye-popping yellow Lamborghini Urus. However, their comrades managed to escape in a much more understated BMW.

It turns out a Lamborghini Urus might not be the perfect post-fake music video getaway car for a police pursuit

Two criminals are behind bars after luring a set of videographers to a LA smoke shop. The duo promised an opportunity to shoot a music video at the location. However, when the videographers arrived, they didn’t find an active set. Instead, they found gun-toting robbers demanding their valuables.

Worse yet, the suspects pistol-whipped the victims, meaning they used their firearms to strike them. The hits were brutal, and one of the victims lost teeth in the ordeal. After the robbery, the criminals left. A handful of suspects departed in a black BMW. But the other two chose a much more conspicuous getaway car: a yellow Lamborghini Urus.

Even with grippy all-wheel drive (AWD) and well over 600 horsepower courtesy of a twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8, the Urus didn’t get very far. Police tracked down the Lamborghini SUV and the two occupants in around 30 minutes, per ABC 7. Of course, the robbers weren’t going to go quietly. That’s when a pursuit kicked off, pitting police against the brutish Urus.

Around 40 minutes into the pursuit, LAPD units handed control of the pursuit over to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The chase ended when police took the two suspects into custody in Santa Rosa Valley. However, the black BMW and its occupants slipped away from the police. Perhaps a $200,000 Lamborghini Urus isn’t the getaway vehicle it’s cracked up to be.
