Jewelry thieves try escaping in a rowboat after crashing an SUV
Always have a plan B ready to go. Jewelry thieves thought their plan was fouled after crashing their SUV. However, they jumped into a rowboat and started paddling to get away with $11,000 worth of jewelry.
Jewelry thieves abandon wrecked SUV for a rowboat
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s officer received a 911 call reporting a burglary for a shipping container on Killapie Beach Road around 8 am in Jefferson County, Washington.
The callers reported that a man and woman just stole $11,000 worth of jewelry from a container near the Hood Canal Bridge.
Then they fled the scene in an SUV. Police officers called for backup from the Kisao Country Sheriff’s Office after the SUV was spotted heading south on the Hood Canal Bridge.
According to KOMO News, officers found an SUV matching the description. However, it was involved in a rollover crash by Port Gamble.
The couple crawled out of the SUV and began walking away. Officers attempted to stop them while calling for additional resources.
In true Bonnie and Clyde fashion, the couple wasn’t going to go down easy. They stole a rowboat on Port Gamble Bay.

Police officers used a drone to capture the suspect’s attempt to get away, but things only got worse for them.
They were seen trying to use plywood and an oar to flee in the boat, but it began taking on water. They had to ditch the sinking rig and swim to shore, where they were arrested. I bet that water was freezing!
The suspects haven’t been identified and were taken to Jefferson County jail. The SUV was collected for processing.
However, it’s unclear if the stolen jewelry was covered. The thieves may have dumped it in the water. What if valuables are at the bottom of the port?
