The Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator face a lawsuit due to fire risks
For years, the Jeep Wrangler has been hot. It’s so popular and fun that Barbie drives one. However, now the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator have the risk of literally being hot due to fires. Some owners noticed, and they filed a lawsuit.
Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator fire risks spur a lawsuit
Is your Jeep Wrangler or Gladiator currently on fire? Well, first of all, call for help. Second of all, you aren’t alone. Reportedly, these trucks and SUVs are getting toasty on the regular.
Multiple owners have reported that their vehicles have randomly burst into flames after being parked. Sometimes, they don’t start burning until hours later.
This event is so popular that the National Vehicle Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is looking into the matter. It launched an investigation into 781,459 Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler models.
The agency is working to determine if the fire risk is related to a Jeep Defect. According to Car Scoops, some owners didn’t want to wait for the investigation to take place, so they decided to sue.
The plaintiffs claim that Jeep has four violations such as breach of implied warranty, violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act, unjust enrichment, and violation of the Magnuson-Moss warranty act.
Also, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has linked one death related to the Jeep fires. Owners in Michigan launched a similar lawsuit including Wrangler and Grand Cherokee SUVs.
The conclusion of the lawsuit could be impacted by what the NHTSA finds. Also, it could force Stellantis to provide a recall based on what investigators determine.
