Stellantis is recalling more than 63,000 SUVs over a dangerous transmission issue
Stellantis and the brands that fall under its umbrella are responsible for some of the best cars on the road. However, the company has struggled with sales as of late and now it has a new car recall. This time, the issue lies with Jeep and it’s present in what many call one of the best SUVs to buy. As with most car recalls, auto mechanics at Jeep dealerships will fix the issue for free.
Stellanis and its cars are not strangers to a car recall
Dealing with a car recall is stressful for all parties involved. They are expensive for automakers, and many vehicle owners are busy and may not have time to fix the issue. According to Reuters, Jeep is now recalling 63,082 Cherokee units. Specifically, this includes the Jeep Cherokee from 2017 to 2019. This is one of the automaker’s most popular SUVs, as many consider it among the best to buy.
So, why is Jeep issuing a car recall for the Cherokee? The report says these models of the popular SUV have damaged power transfer units that could disengage the transmission and cause a loss of drive power. Additionally, it could limit the vehicle’s ability to park. Of course, both issues impede safety and could cause car crashes.
Regarding a fix for this car recall, impacted owners will be able to go to the auto mechanics at Jeep dealers. However, the report says the repair method is still being worked out. This means drivers can expect an official notification letter from Stellantis/Jeep soon with instructions on when they can seek out the repair.
