Everybody knows that Honda vehicles are some of the best cars on the market. Auto mechanics and drivers alike agree. However, no automaker is perfect, and Honda isn’t exempt from this as some of its vehicles have some notable issues. Recently, one well-known mechanic took to social media to call out a year range of used Honda vehicles with a certain engine.

Honda makes some of the best vehicles, but there are some that buyers should steer clear of

As mentioned, auto mechanics highly recommend Honda vehicles for their reliability. Still, a mechanic from Royalty Auto Service in Texas took to their TikTok account to point out a notable exception. He begins the video by saying drivers should avoid a range of vehicles if they can. The video uses a text overlay that reads, “This is why we don’t recommend buying these Hondas… You could end up with major issues.”

Regarding the problematic Honda vehicles, he has an Odyssey minivan in the shop, and he’s holding a pair of spark plugs. This is because one of the spark plugs is significantly worn despite the owner recently having a tune-up. Specifically, he says the spark plug is “so carboned up that it’s worthless.” Of course, this can cause the impacted vehicles to misfire and have other issues.

The mechanic went on to say that the Honda vehicles that suffer from this issue are the 2008-2014 models with the 3.5-liter engine. This includes the Honda Accord, Pilot, Odyssey, etc. Some may not see needing to replace the spark plugs more often than with other vehicles as an issue. However, it’s something buyers can easily avoid by selecting other year models. Notably, other auto mechanics have pointed out the same issues in these models.
