Tennessee drivers are stuck with expensive repairs after getting bad gas from a BP station
Most people are carefree when using gas station pumps to fill up their vehicles. Sure, everyone is on the lookout for cheap prices, but many drivers don’t fear that their gas could somehow have water or other harmful substances in it. Still, this happens to drivers often, which leads to expensive repair bills with auto mechanics.
There is always a risk associated with going to gas station pumps
According to Action 5 News, Monique Wilson stopped by the gas station pumps at a local BP on February 11th to fill up. Notably, she went to the station on Jackson Avenue in Memphis. Things took a turn when she later began to experience issues with her vehicle. Monique said, “It started shaking and vibrating, and I cut it off. I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness’, I don’t know what happened. Maybe I got some bad gas because that’s the only difference. It was running fine prior to that.”
She found auto mechanics to look into the issues with her car. It was determined that she had water in her tank after going to the BP gas station pumps. Sadly, her repairs total $1,200 after only getting $25 worth of fuel. Her car is currently awaiting repairs, meaning she had to find other means of travel. Monique says she then spoke to the gas station manager, who only referred her to the Tennessee Department of Agriculture and failed to take responsibility.
People who believe gas from station pumps has been contaminated should also contact their Department of Agriculture. Monique says this is her next step, as they will send an investigator to pull a sample. This step will also ensure that the station can’t sell gas until they have cleaned out the pumps. Naturally, there’s no way Monique was the only driver who got contaminated fuel from this station.
