Apple Studios is releasing a new racing movie this summer, succinctly titled “F1.” While it will star Brad Pitt, the film is already getting smiles from the celebrities of the racing sport, namely Formula 1 drivers like George Russell and Charles Leclerc.

Formula 1 drivers are all smiles after watching the trailer for the upcoming ‘F1’ movie starring Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem

Get ready, race fans. Hollywood is taking another stab at a Formula 1 racing movie. For this iteration, Apple Studios tapped celebrities Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem. The studio is undoubtedly hoping to use the actors’ star power to put butts in seats. And if the real-life F1 drivers’ reactions are any indication, the movie has potential.

“Alright, here we go,” Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS driver George Russell said as he rubbed his hands together. Moments later, the praise poured in. Liam Lawson of Red Bull Racing could hardly contain his excitement. “This looks sick!” the young Aussie exclaimed. “It’s giving me goosebumps, Russell said as the trailer played on.

Other drivers were pleased with the apparent authenticity of the trailer. “It looks good. It looks really, really good,” pro driver Carlos Sainz Jr. said. Valtteri Bottas, one of the older, more experienced drivers from last season hoped it would give fans a better look “high-pressure environment of the sport,” Scuderia Ferrari F1 driver Charles Leclerc was similarly chuffed for the film. “I cannot wait. It’s going to be amazing,” the Monaco-born racer said with a smile.

The upcoming film will feature Brad Pitt as an aging racing talent, Sonny Hayes. Hayes joins his teammate played by Damson Idris, on a fictional, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS-adjacent team, APXGP as they tackle the racing season for ultimate bragging rights. Of course, the racing puts Hayes at odds with his teammate, as we’ve seen so many times in paddocks across the planet and the racing seasons.

And the action seems like it will live up to the hype. A brief glimpse of the latest theatrical trailer reveals white-knuckle Formula 1 racing, GT car racing, and, of course, sky-high tensions between the drivers.

However, superfans will have to wait until June 2025 for the lights to go out and Pitt to hit the track. Check out the trailer for the upcoming film below!
