If you have been waiting for plug-in hybrid trucks to arrive then I have good news and bad news. There are options like the Ford Ranger PHEV and Nissan Frontier PHEV available. But don’t get ready to buy one.

The Ford Ranger PHEV and Nissan Frontier PHEV share one thing

Drivers have been waiting for plug-in hybrid trucks to arrive so they can be more efficient without making the switch to a fully electric vehicle. The Ford Ranger PHEV and the new Nissan Frontier PHEV are here to bridge the gap between hybrid and electric power.

However, they share one unfortunate thing in common. They aren’t going to be sold in America. All we can do in the United States is feel sad about missing out. Perhaps the Jeep Gladiator 4xe will get here eventually.

The Nissan Frontier Pro has a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with an electric motor to generate 402 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. It has an estimated electric range of 83 miles, which is amazing.

According to Car and Driver, American’s could get a different version of the Frontier PHEV in 2028. This is when the next-generation Frontier could launch.

The Ford Ranger PHEV pairs a 2.3-liter engine with an electric motor to provide 275 hp and 509 lb-ft of torque. It has an estimated electric range of 28 miles. Currently, there are no plans to offer a Ranger PHEV in America.

While the Frontier PHEV is launching in China first, it could expand to other countries in Europe. The Ranger PHEV is available in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
