You don’t have to get the same Ford F-150 as everyone else. You can stand out with one of the 11 models that were painted the wrong shade of green.
CarMax and other auto dealers are selling the trucks and according to Yahoo, they used to be owned by Ryobi. That’s why they aren’t the normal shade of factory green. Plus, they’re single-cab trucks, which are pretty rare these days.
Each model is between $22,000 to $27,000 based on how many miles they have. They’re placed all over the nation.
For example, one is in Washington and another is in Virginia. Another one is in Massachusetts. But luckily, CarMax will ship them to a location nearby if you’re interested.
The trucks were assigned to folks in the Leadership Development Program, which tries to snag college graduates trying to score their first job.
They were used to drive to hardware stores so the drivers could assemble promotional fixtures. Ryobi covered the gas and regular maintenance schedules. The drivers were not allowed to do their own maintenance.
One potential drawback may include the fact that these are 2022 F-150 XL models. This means they’re entry-level trucks and could feel a bit spartan.
They have manual buttons, no pushbutton start, steel wheels, cloth upholstery, an AM/FM stereo, and a four-speaker audio system.
The trucks are rear-wheel-drive and feature the 3.3-liter V6 engine with 290 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. So, it’s not the most plush daily driver, but one of these unique trucks could be excellent for work.
