Why the Dodge Charger EV is already going for less than the automaker intended
Most people know that Stellantis and its cars didn’t have the best 2024. This is the case because of low sales and multiple car recalls. However, the automotive giant hopes the new Dodge Charger EV will help. Sadly, dealerships are already discounting the warmly anticipated electric muscle car. Naturally, this could force people to regard the vehicle as less than stellar as it was supposed to have a hefty price tag.
The Dodge Charger EV could be hope for Stellantis cars
Since its announcement, the Dodge Charger EV has had a mixed reception. Some are excited and feel it could return Stellantis and its cars to prominence. However, others don’t like the idea of this legendary name becoming an EV. Now, it’s on the market, and things aren’t going as well as Dodge planned. According to CarScoops, dealerships around the country are offering steep discounts for the electric muscle car.
Notably, some cases require people to lease the vehicles in order to take advantage of the discounts. Still, there are some ways people can drive home with one in more traditional ways without spending over $80,000 for some of the trims. In fact, some are offering the Dodge Charger EV for around $61,000. This is a more than $20,000 discount.
So, why are dealerships discounting the Dodge Charger EV? Well, the automaker initially intended to release the vehicle halfway through 2024. However, this didn’t happen, making its release much closer to the 2025 models. Because of this, it seems dealers feel the need to move through this inventory before the newer models, which are supposed to include a gas-powered variant. Still, this could backfire as it may diminish the car’s value in the eyes of buyers.
Sadly, there have been other issues with the Dodge Charger EV that could lead to car recalls. Check out this recent article on them arriving bricked to dealerships.
