Car thief is released at Buc-ee’s and steals an SUV

Leeds Police Chief, Paul Irwin, shared that another agency released 33-year-old Kujuan Prince Ash at a Buc-ee’s gas station. Then he stole a Toyota 4Runner from a gas pump.

According to AL, it’s unclear why the other agency drove Ash to the gas station. They are contacting the officer who failed to identify and charge the dangerous criminal.

Irwin said it’s a shame to let dangerous criminals go, especially in highly populated areas. Agencies need to work together regardless of jurisdiction.

Around 6:30 am, Ash jumped into a 4Runner and forcibly took it from the owner. The victim managed to get out of a car seat without any injuries.

Then officers spotted the stolen 4Runner on Interstate 20/59 junction. they tried to pull Ash over. Ash sped away from them, and a police chase ensued.

The Alabaster Police joined the pursuit around Vestiva Hills. Ash didn’t stop until he crashed the stolen SUV around Interstate 65 and U.S. 31. Ash tried to run away on foot but was quickly apprehended.

Officers learned that Ash stole from the Buc-ee’s store and tried to enter two other cars before taking the 4Runner.

He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle by force, attempting to elude police, first-degree theft of property, first-degree criminal mischief, third-degree theft of property, obstruction of justice using a fake identity, third-degree retail theft, and two counts of unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle.
