Drivers have several options when it comes to car insurance providers. However, not all companies are equal when it comes to offering coverage in the event of car wrecks. In fact, many say car owners should avoid some of these companies at all costs due to their stipulations, lack of coverage, and denial of valid claims. Readers should note that this list is based on a survey from Consumer Reports.

Here are five car insurance providers that aren’t as good as the rest.

Drivers don’t love Plymouth Rock

The Plymouth Rock companies came in dead last on the Consumer Reports survey regarding car insurance providers. It only has a 31 out of 100 rating from the company, and customers gave it 2 out of 5 points for overall stratification. Notably, drivers dinged the company for the way it handles claims. Plymouth Rock is also only available for Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Kemper PC isn’t well-liked

Kemper PC isn’t one of the most well-known car insurance providers. However, it is among the most hated as it only got an overall score of 38 out of 100 from the Consumer Reports survey. Customers gave it only 2 out of 5 pounds for its offerings of coverage, policy clarity, and service.

Farmers is one of the worst car insurance providers

Farmers is one of the car insurance providers that many have heard of, but it’s not up there with the likes of Allstate and State Farm. Despite being around since 1928, it only got an overall 38 out of 100. This company ranks especially low for policy clarity, service, coverage, etc. While some may have positive experiences with Farmers, it’s not one of the best.

Safe Auto and Liberty Mutual aren’t great companies

Safe Auto and Liberty Mutual are well-known car insurance providers. Notably, Safe Auto is part of Liberty Mutual. According to QZ, both companies came up short on the Consumer Reports customer survey. In fact, they have identical scores of 39 out of 100. They also have a 2 out of 5 ranking for service, which means customers hate dealing with them. Many don’t feel they offer enough coverage to protect in car wrecks.

Progressive is among the worst car insurance companies

Progressive is one of the most popular car insurance providers. However, this seems to be the case only because of its relatively low coverage price. It has a 41 out of 100 on the survey, as drivers don’t like it for policy clarity, service, or coverage.

Naturally, many drivers will have had wonderful experiences with these companies. However, most people surveyed don’t appreciate what they have to offer.
