Imagine getting passed by a white limousine doing 120 mph—then watching it go faster. That’s exactly what drivers in Westchester County, New York, witnessed when police chased a 20-foot Cadillac limo down the interstate. The stretch limo weaved through traffic, blasted through neighborhoods, and even reversed onto an off-ramp to avoid capture.

But that wasn’t the strangest part. The limousine wasn’t empty—it had at least one passenger along for the wildest ride of their life.

150 mph police chase in a limo

State Trooper Todd Bulmer first spotted the limo. “I can’t believe what I’m seeing,” he said as the Cadillac sped past him doing 120 mph. When he flipped on his police lights, the limo didn’t slow down—it sped up.

The driver exited the freeway, tearing through surface streets and passing slower traffic while barreling around blind corners. Bulmer said the massive vehicle was “on the wrong side of the road.” He added, “If anyone was coming southbound, he definitely would have killed them.”

The chase didn’t end there. Instead of ditching police on back roads, the limo turned back toward the highway and floored it.

Trooper Shawn Kelly joined the pursuit. “It was obvious the way he was driving, it was a good possibility that he might wreck,” Kelly said. So he hung back, keeping a safe distance as the limo pushed 150 mph. But that Cadillac couldn’t hold top speed for long.

The limo’s wild run finally caught up to it. Kelly described what happened next: “The transmission blows, spewing a cloud of white smoke.” Officers formed a roadblock. It looked like the chase was over.

But the driver wasn’t done yet. He found one working gear—reverse. The Cadillac started backing up an on-ramp, dodging cars and heading straight toward oncoming traffic.

Backing up quickly in a regular sedan—with a center mirror—is hard enough. Now imagine doing it in a stretch limo. Kelly called the move “mind-blowing.” At the last second, the driver pulled a stunt-like switch and sped off in the right direction. “He was quite talented in his driving ability,” Kelly admitted. “That’s for sure.”

But even this “talented” driver couldn’t reverse through residential streets—at breakneck speeds—in a limo forever.

The limo crashes and police have lingering questions

After nearly 20 miles of chaos, the limo finally lost the fight. It missed a tight corner, plowed into a stand of trees, and got stuck.

When police officers pulled the driver out, he told them the whole chase happened because his license was suspended.

Then came the real twist. Police found the limo wasn’t empty. There was a passenger inside, trapped during the entire chase. Customer? Owner? Just a friend? Police didn’t say.

The driver racked up 28 charges in four jurisdictions. But the bigger question is: Who drives a limo that well? Was he a chauffeur? A stunt driver? Or just someone who practiced way too much in a parking lot?
