Redondo Beach, California, has its best attribute right in the name: the beach. Southern California’s beaches are some of the country’s best, with warm waters, soft sand, and fantastic surfing. Others can enjoy the plentiful fishing, whale watching, and sailing, too.

Two women driving a white BMW convertible just couldn’t wait for sunrise to take a long walk on the beach. On March 26 at around 5:30 a.m., Moe Kraeg, who lives in an apartment right next to the beach access staircase, heard a loud bang while grabbing his morning coffee.

He peered out of his window to see two young women climbing out of the BMW, the car unfortunately stuck in the stairs.

“I was just getting my coffee, and I stuck my head out the window, asked the girls if they were alright, they said ‘yes, we’re calling the police,'” Kraeg told CBS.

The BMW driver said she lost control before crashing

Shortly before the BMW was launched down the stairs, the driver says she lost control. She made a wrong turn, and before she knew it, she was stuck on the staircase.

Both women were transported to a local hospital. Neither the driver nor the passenger sustained serious injuries from the BMW’s crash.

Authorities dispatched a crane to lift the car from the stairs, and a crew cleaned up the remainder of the mess. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Viewers of the footage had jokes

When Inside Edition posted a video covering the incident, viewers couldn’t help but make light of the situation.

“‘Lost control’? Looks like they did a great job steering down the staircase without wrecking,” wrote a commenter.

Another said the BMW’s crash reminded them of a popular video game.

“Me every time I’m driving in GTA V,” they wrote.

Someone else wrote there was no need to investigate the cause of the crash.

“The cause of the crash? Stupidity,” they wrote.
