Power gave this truck an overall 74 out of 100, which is alright, but it doesn’t inspire much confidence. Sadly, the marketing research firm only gave it a 66 for quality & reliability. 

So, why else should people looking for the best trucks to buy avoid this used GMC Sierra 1500 model? Some of the most significant issues are engine and transmission problems. Specifically, owners have reported harsh shifts, stalling, and sputtering. There have also been reported issues with the selector switch on four-wheel-drive models of the popular pickup truck. 

The used Jeep Gladiator from 2020 isn’t great

Some people consider used Jeep Gladiator models among the best trucks to buy. While this could be the case, the used Jeep Gladiator from 2020 has some issues. In terms of ratings from J.D. Power, it’s pretty average. The truck has an overall 78 out of 100 and a 72 for quality and reliability. Notably, this was the first model for the rebooted vehicle, and it’s common for first-gen vehicles to struggle. 

This isn’t one of the best trucks to buy because it has transmission problems. Many owners have already had to have replacements. Some of the issues with the unit include rough gear shifting, slipping, and an inability for the gears to engage. There are reports of the transmission going into neutral when it shouldn’t. Some owners have also experienced the infamous “death wobble.”

Not all used Chevrolet Colorado models are great

The used Chevrolet Colorado can be one of the best trucks to buy. However, shoppers should do their research into specific models. This one has good ratings from J.D. Power. However, it seems the truck became less reliable as time passed. Consumer Reports says it’s less reliable than its rivals. There have been reports of engine issues, shuddering while shifting gears, and various steering issues.
