Everyone knows that Toyota vehicles are some of the best on the market. The brand has solid models in all categories, which also means it offers some of the best trucks to buy, including the Tacoma. However, one man recently went online to share about his relatively new Toyota Tacoma losing a ton of value in only a year. This comes as the truck has been in the news for needing expensive repairs from auto mechanics. 

Despite recent news, the Toyota Tacoma is one of the best trucks to buy

People looking for the best trucks to buy usually want something that will hold its value. This is why so many buyers opt for Toyota vehicles. According to Torque News, this wasn’t true for at least one Toyota Tacoma driver. The man in question owns a 2024 Tacoma Off-Road Premium that only has 4,000 miles on the odometer. Upon taking it to a dealership to trade it in, the salespeople only offered him $38,000 for it. 

Of course, this is one of the best trucks to buy for several reasons. However, the man said in his FaceBook post that this model has all the bells and whistles. It even has a six-foot bed but has lost about $12,000 of its value in only a year. Regarding the loss, the man said, “Not even my Rams have this much depreciation. The Toyota rep says they haven’t seen anything like it in 20 years.”

By all accounts, this amount of depreciation isn’t normal for what many call one of the best trucks to buy. Yes, the Toyota Tacoma has been in the news for issues lately, but many agree it’s worth almost $10k more than what the dealership offered. Of course, there are other factors. Because of the bad news regarding the Tacoma, some dealerships may not believe they can sell the vehicles as fast as they like. This is one reason why car lots may not value them as highly as they usually would.
