Many people are in the market for the best cars to buy. Of course, in several cases, these drivers are looking for sedans, but trucks and SUVs are also hot commodities. However, not all vehicles are created equally. In fact, there are quite a few that auto mechanics and service advisors would highly suggest people think twice about. Recently, a popular service advisor took to social media to share five popular models he would never buy.

Many auto mechanics dislike the Kia Optima

Zach Trahan from TikTok recently listed sedans he would never buy. It seems auto mechanics and service advisors dislike the Kia Optima, as it’s the first car he mentioned. He begins by calling it unreliable and mentioning how often it gets stolen. Additionally, Zach throws in the fact that some insurance companies won’t cover it. Notably, he feels that they have bad engines and too many plastic components.

The Hyundai Elantra is also on his list

The Hyundai Elantra is another car that service advisors and auto mechanics dislike. Zach begins this short portion of the video by saying it’s related to the Optima. Their relation is because they have the same engine and drive train. Naturally, this means they’re both unreliable, in his opinion.

Full-size trucks with small engines

The next item on Zach’s list isn’t a single vehicle. Instead, he says he would never buy a full-size truck with a small turbocharged engine. Specifically, he mentions the Ford 2.7-liter EcoBoost and the equivalent Chevrolet engine. Notably, he calls these vehicles “underpowered” and says that this causes other components to break. Several auto mechanics agree with this.

Next, Zach says he would never buy a Mercedes. He says they get an “astronomical” amount of Mercedes vehicles in the shop where he’s a service advisor. Zach adds that nothing is cheap for auto mechanics to fix on a Mercedes. However, he admits that they’re not unreliable. Of course, many feel Mercedes makes some of the best luxury cars to buy.

Auto mechanics hate the Jeep Renegade

Finally, Zach, as have many auto mechanics, says that he would never buy a Jeep Renegade. He even goes as far as to call it a “ticking time bomb.” Specifically, he says that the low price tag can be appealing but that it’s not worth the issues that could arise. He also says to never buy a Jeep product.

Of course, these are the opinions of one person. Some people may have great experiences with these cars. Still, many service advisors and auto mechanics would agree with much of this list.
