It was Kenneth Goodman’s first DoorDash order of the day. The South Carolinian and Air Force veteran walked into a local Walgreens in Columbia. After a few minutes, though, he realized something very bad was happening in the store. The driver‘s customer would have to wait.

The DoorDash driver noticed someone getting tackled…and then stabbed

Goodman registered that the Walgreens staff didn’t see what was going on. Instead of leaving, though, he dove right in.

He moved swiftly to kick the man with the weapon off of the victim, then scuffled with the suspect for the knife. Despite the suspect’s larger frame, Goodman held him down until the scene could be cleared. Police arrived soon after.

Authorities labeled the event a “random stabbing.” The victim required hospitalization.

“If I didn’t take action, I don’t know what would have happened,” the DoorDash driver told News 19 WLTX. “He did just randomly stab someone…that random person could have been me.”

The driver admitted that he was afraid for his life during the scuffle, but that he was mainly thinking of the victim and the other folks in the store

“I’m glad that I was able to just stop him, but it was God protecting me and having a shield over me so that I was able to do his calling.”

Days after the incident, the driver had yet to visit the victim because he was still in the Intensive Care Unit. “I am in contact with his brother in regards to his health,” Goodman said, “I’m hoping that he makes a speedy recovery and comes back to all normalcies of life.”
