Do you own a General Motors truck that’s plagued with engine failure? Well, you aren’t alone. Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra drivers have made tons of complaints and reports of engine problems in 2019 – 2024 models.

877,710 General Motors trucks could have engine failure issues

Owners of General Motors trucks and SUVs have been voicing their complaints related to engine failure. Problems with the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra have become rampant! So, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has officially launched an investigation.

According to the NHTSA, the engine failure could result in a sudden loss of power. This increases the risk of accidents and injuries. While the NHTSA has received 39 complaints related to the problem, none have led to injuries or fires.

The vehicles included are the Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade equipped with V8 engines. These trucks and SUVs are from 2019 – 2024.

Most of the complaints are related to a bearing failure that can cause the engine to seize. Also, a connecting rod that breaches the engine block. There are no signs of the defect before the engine fails.

General Motors is cooperating with the investigation. Based on the results, a massive recall could be launched. The investigation is working to determine the scope and severity of the potential problem.

It will fully assess the potential of safety-related issues. If the trucks are recalled then the engine or certain components could be replaced at no charge to owners. General Motors will notify owners at risk via mail if a recall is made.
