5 of the fastest-depreciating SUVs in 2025
Seth Godwin is a content creator with 1.8 million TikTok followers. He focuses on personal finance and investing, with a large portion of his insightful reels being automotive in nature. In fact, the Floridian kicked off his 2025 with several posts on cars. Since SUVs still dominate American roads, many of us are interested to know where our hard-earned money is best spent when it comes to buying a new people hauler. Here are five of the fastest-depreciating SUVs in 2025. By the way, this might surprise some folks: The worst-depreciating one on the list is American.
5. Nissan Armada
The Armada loses 55.7% of its original value after 60 months out of ownership. Godwin says this translates to an owner loss of about $37,000.
4. Audi Q7
In close rank, a Q7 will lose 56.8% of its original market worth. This equates to an eye-watering $42,000 loss over five years with the SUV. But wait! It gets worse for other models…
3. Maserati Levante
Godwin says the Levante sheds 57.8% of its starting line market value. Owners can expect to be out a stabbing $56K after about 60 months.
2. BMW X5
Not only is the X5 on one of Godwin’s “Worst Cars” lists but it’ll also shamelessly discard 58.6% of its original market value after five years. This means owners will lose about $45K at the 60-month mark.
“The saddest fall from grace in the SUV world”
Godwin is pretty attached to the idea of this full-size SUV because his great-grandparents drove one. However, in 2025, the automotive market is just way different than decades past. This behemoth loses 58.5% of its value after five years. These SUVs are pricey, too – the 2025 base trim starts much, much closer to $100K than $50K. As such, $64,000 goes “poof” at the five-year mark.
It’s the Cadillac Escalade.
