4 Reasons to Buy a 2022 Acura TLX, Not a 2022 Hyundai Sonata
When shopping for a mid-size sedan, it’s normal to cross-compare between two different categories. For example, while the 2022 Hyundai Sonata compares well to the Honda Accord, some shoppers may face it off against something more luxurious like the 2022 Acura TLX. In that case, here are four reasons to buy an Acura TLX over a Sonata.

1. The 2022 Acura TLX is more luxurious

This one is a no-brainer considering the 2022 Acura TLX competes in a class above the 2022 Hyundai Sonata. However, there’s no denying that the TLX’s interior quality and plushness edge out the Sonata’s. In base form, the TLX comes with leatherette seating surfaces, but when you opt for the higher trim levels, a perforated Milano interior is available.
Don’t get us wrong, the Hyundai Sonata’s interior is classy in its own right. But you’ll have to step up a few levels to get a leather interior.
2. The Acura TLX offers a far sportier ride than the Hyundai Sonata

If you’re looking for a sportier ride with responsive driving dynamics, then the Acura TLX can provide you with that straight out of the box. Every TLX is fitted with a double-wishbone suspension up front and a multi-link rear suspension for premium agility. You’ll also find amplitude reactive dampers that respond to every type of road. And if you opt for the higher trims, then an adaptive suspension becomes available.
3. The Acura TLX is available with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive

Speaking of handling, the Acura TLX has a leg up over the Hyundai Sonata with its Super Handling AWD system. The system features torque-vectoring technology in that it can send power to the wheel that needs it most when cornering. It also works well if you live in an area where it snows. On the other hand, the Hyundai Sonata is only available in a front-wheel-drive configuration.
4. The TLX has a far better audio system than the Sonata

The 2022 Hyundai Sonata is available with a premium Bose sound system, which is undeniably good. However, in our own testing, we much preferred the 2022 Acura TLX’s optional ELS sound system that includes 17 speakers. The highs and lows came in crisp and clear without too much bass. However, we can’t say the same for the Bose system, which tends to have a little too much bass for our liking.
2022 Acura TLX vs 2022 Hyundai Sonata

While this match-up may not seem fair since we’re making the Hyundai Sonata punch above its weight class, it goes to show that it can. On the plus side, the Sonata does have a lot of tech-savvy features like a remote Smart Park, an upscale interior, and an excellent price point. But when comparing it to the Acura TLX, things start to look a little grim for the South Korean car.
Overall, we like both of these cars and buyers really can’t go wrong with either one. But if you’re into sportier ride and handling characteristics, then the Acura TLX is the sedan to get.
