This 2024 Chevy Silverado needs a new engine after 594 miles
When you pull out of the dealership to start your life with a new pickup truck, it’s supposed to be blissful. However, one Chevrolet Silverado driver quickly lost the honeymoon period due to frustration. His 2024 Chevy Silverado already needs a new engine after 594 miles.
This 2024 Chevy Silverado has engine failure after 594 miles
One man named George from Owings Mills, Maryland is very frustrated about his brand new 2024 Chevy Silvardo 1500. It only has 594 miles on the odometer and already struggles against engine failure.
He shared his story with Edmunds, and explained why he’s upset. He bought the truck with 594 miles on it and drove it off the lot, only to quickly turn around and head back to the dealership.
George’s truck is equipped with the turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine with 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. The truck started shaking and shimmying at a red light.
When the light turned green, George hit the gas and the engine vibrations were out of control. The dealership said two cylinders needed to be replaced.
Instead of quickly correcting the issue by giving him a new truck, the General Motors dealership decided to repair the engine under the warranty.
However, George claims that the truck will never be the same. He had the truck for about five minutes and felt like the defective vehicle should be replaced.

The warranty guidelines dictate that vehicles must receive repair attempts before a replacement is considered. Manufacturers often save when repairing trucks instead of replacing them.
While George threatens to escalate the issue with General Motors, the dealership fulfilled their obligation by repairing the truck. It even provided a loaner vehicle during the process.
Because the 2024 Chevy Silverado was successfully repaired it probably doesn’t meet the criteria for the Lemon Law.
To be covered, a vehicle must receive several unsuccessful repair attempts and be placed out of service for an extended period before qualifying for a replacement or buyback.
